In a time of digitalization, virtuality and artificial intelligence, we want to reflect on the relevance and pertinence of manual techniques. In this workshop we will explore techniques that communicate naturality, gesturality, plasticity, character and emotion.
Content
A practical-reflective workshop on gestural calligraphic techniques. It is not necessary to have previous knowledge of specialized handwriting (no judgment will be made if you have ugly handwriting).
The general topics to be covered will be:
- Introduction to calligraphic writing.
- Gestural calligraphy techniques.
- Guided exploration of styles and instruments.
- Calligraphic challenge.
Note: Materials will be provided by La Colecturía, although you are invited to bring unconventional instruments that can be used to write on a substrate (sponges, tongue depressor, etc.).

Isaías is a lettering designer (mainly calligraphy and typography). He co-founded Enigma 15 years ago –a multidisciplinary design studio that works with clients who believe in design as an element of business transformation.
He has won more than 20 design awards such as the national award Diseña México (overall winner for visual communications), the Quorum award and the a! Diseño award; internationally, the Brandemia award, the Latin American Design Awards, the Iberoamerican Design Biennial and the Latin American Typography Biennial.
